“Jazz-Riven” is a contemporary jazz poem by American writer Michael Baldwin, which first appeared in Jerry Jazz Musician in 2025. It shifts midway through from a structured poem to a more fluid and free verse form. The poem explores the shift in tension in a jazz club before and after the music begins.
