I Have Lived a Thousand Years: Growing Up in the Holocaust Overview

Livia Bitton-Jackson, born Elli L. Friedmann, recounts her life as a young Jewish girl amidst the horrors of the Nazi regime during World War II. After being forced to identify herself with a yellow star badge, Elli and her family find themselves relocated to a “ghetto” before being sent on to the Auschwitz concentration camp. Spared from death by gas chamber by the fluke of light colored hair they were sent on to a German airplane factory before they are freed by Allied soldiers.
