Cut (Poem) Overview

“Cut” is a 39-line surrealist poem by American confessional poet Sylvia Plath. It was written in 1962 and originally appeared in her posthumous collection Ariel in 1965. It uses a physical injury to explore themes of social trauma, disassociation, and the relationship with the body.
