Children of Blood and Bone Overview

In Children of Blood and Bone, the first installment of Tomi Adeyemi's Orisha Legacy series, magic has been eradicated by the evil King Saran. However, when his daughter, Princess Amari, realizes that her father is evil, she leaves. She takes with her the one item that can be used to bring magic back to the people of Orisha. Amari joins forces with Zelie, a member of the magical race that the king is bent on oppressing, and together they embark upon a quest to restore magic while Amari’s brother, Prince Tzain, hunts them down, as his father has ordered. The novel explores themes of racism, feminism, family, and spirituality.
