Yuko and Hiro is the final song from Britpop group Blur's 1995 UK number one album The Great Escape.

Lyrical theme

The lyrics are thought to be about Albarn's long term relationship (now over) with former Elastica lead singer Justine Frischmann. They supposedly talk about how Albarn rarely sees Frischmann, with the chorus being "I never see you. We’re never together. I love you forever."

Music

The music is in the key of G major. There is a simple eight bar chord sequence which is repeated in the verses, containing the chords G, D, C and F (in that order). The song starts with a lot of synthesised sounds, which all mix together into a chord of G after a few seconds. During the bridge, there is a cor anglais solo.

Vocals

The vocals for Albarn are quite low in the range until the chorus is reached, where the vocals reach a medium pitch. After the second chorus comes a section sung in Japanese by guest vocalist Catherine Gillat.
