Rabbi Yaakov Weinberg was the Rosh yeshiva of the major American Yeshiva, Yeshivas Ner Yisroel in Baltimore,Maryland, from 1987 until his death in 1999. He had served on the Ner Israel faculty for nearly 50 years. In 1964, Rabbi Weinberg went to the branch of Yeshivas Ner Yisroel of Toronto that had been established in 1959 in Toronto where he served as rosh yeshiva until 1971.
Family
Rabbi Weinberg was married to Chana Ruderman, the only child of Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchok Ruderman. Rabbi Noach Weinberg, his brother, is the founder and rosh yeshiva of Aish HaTorah.
