Wolfgang Marius von Leyden was a German political philosopher who edited the letters of the 17th century empiricist , John Locke[1]. He was born in Berlin on 28th December, 1911 and received a broad humanistic education [1], studying at German and Italian universities before coming to England in 1939. Throughout his career he studied the concepts of memory (Fernández 2006) and identity (McClure, 1996). From 1946 to 1977 he lectured at Durham University [2] . After retiring he continued part time at the London School of Economics. He died on the 4th September 2004, kind and modest to the last [3]
