Wings was a drama series that ran on BBC television from 1976 to 1977. It starred Tim Woodward as Alan Farmer, a young blacksmith's son turned fighter pilot in World War I. Nicholas Jones played his teacher and mentor, Captain Triggers, and Michael Cochrane played his upper-class friend, Charles Gaylion, who began a relationship with Farmer's girlfriend while Farmer was believed dead, shot down over France. The series was written by Barry Thomas. Twenty-five episodes were made in all. Series 1 consisted of 12 episodes as follows: The volunteer (Spring 1915); Never turn back (April 1915); Welcome to France (May 1915); Business as usual (June 1915); Speaking from experience (June 1915); Over the top (June 1915); Time out of war (July 1915); The hunters (July 1915); New deal (July 1915); The burning question (August 1915); The prisoners's friend (August 1915); Welcome home (August 1915); Series 2 consisted of 13 episodes as follows: Forward Action; Zeppelin (scriptwriter Gidley Wheeler); Another Country; Transfer; Stunt - Or Die!; Dawn attack; Machine Gun Post; Officers & Gentleman; Guardian Angel; The Price; Mutiny; No Medals (scriptwriter Gidley Wheeler); Heroes.
