William Bernhardt (b. 1960) is an American mystery/suspense fiction author best known for his "Ben Kincaid" series of books. He has twice won the Oklahoma Book Award for Best Fiction, and in 2000 he was presented the H. Louise Cobb Distinguished Author Award "in recognition of an outstanding body of work in which we understand ourselves and American society at large." A former trial attorney, Bernhardt has received several awards for his public service. He lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his wife, Kirsten, and their children, Harry, Alice, and Ralph. Arrested on Nov 2, 2007 on a complaint of public intoxication at Tulsa's Carnegie Elementary School. Police say school officials notified them because Bernhardt was unsteady on his feet and appeared drunk when he arrived at the school for a parent/teacher conference. It is his third alcohol-related arrest this year.
