Vivian "Viv" Thomas is a South African-born British director of pornographic movies (viz., a pornographer). His more well-known films include the Pink Velvet series, Office Girls, and The Art of Kissing, although he has directed hundreds of different features over the course of his 15+ year career. He specializes in and is best known for directing lesbian pornography, as well as foot fetish videos. He has also produced an equal number of heterosexual works. The majority of his work was produced prior to the British government lifting some of the more stringent laws regarding what could be shown in pornographic films; when those laws were repealed in 1999, Viv moved into producing hardcore material exclusively. However, as a court decision confirmed that R18 rated hardcore DVDs can only be sold via licensed sex shops in the UK, not mail-order via the internet, Viv Thomas decided to move his whole operation from Acton, West London to Portugal. He also maintains a studio in Budapest. Viv's daughter, who used to work as a photographer with her father under the name of Chantel, has quit the business some three years ago to join the Metropolitan Police in London. He is also highly regarded on the website LezLoveVideo.com, an American lesbian-only video shop. This is likely due in part to responding favourably to input from fans of his work and the models who appear in his films. Thomas and members of his production crew regularly post on LezLoveVideo's forum. Thomas' recent work has starred almost exclusively Hungarian, Czech Republic, and other Central European models, although he does feature some British performers, such as Ian Tate, as well as Americans such as Penny Flame and Sophie Strauss. Among the British models he has worked with are models Adele Stevens, Faye Rampton, Alicia Rhodes, Sammy-Jayne, Andrea Spinks, Michelle Thorne, Rebekah Teasdale, Lana Cox, Kelle Marie, Roxanne Hall, Teresa May, and Deborah Corrigan. Central European models who are frequently featured in his videos include Eve Angel, Monica Sweet (aka "Jo"), Nella, Zafira, Peaches, Sophie Moone, Sandra Shine, and Zsanett Égerházi (aka "Sandy"). Thomas often praises models he has worked with in the past, such as Diana Van Laar, who appeared in his first movies.
