Vaughn is a census-designated place (CDP) in Cascade County, Montana, United States. The population was 701 at the 2000 census. It is part of the 'Great Falls, Montana Metropolitan Statistical Area'.

Geography

Vaughn is located at 47°33′26″N, 111°33′5″W (47.557240, -111.551522)GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.5 square miles (9.1 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 701 people, 264 households, and 195 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 198.4 people per square mile (76.7/km²). There were 287 housing units at an average density of 81.2/sq mi (31.4/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 92.72% White, 1.00% African American, 2.14% Native American, 0.71% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 3.14% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.43% of the population. There were 264 households out of which 40.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.6% were married couples living together, 11.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.8% were non-families. 22.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.11. In the CDP the population was spread out with 32.0% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 31.0% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 113.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.7 males. The median income for a household in the CDP was $31,250, and the median income for a family was $36,111. Males had a median income of $26,375 versus $18,984 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $13,600. About 8.0% of families and 9.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.7% of those under age 18 and 4.6% of those age 65 or over.
