A flood is a Usenet term referring to a massive amount of posts to a single newsgroup in a short period of time. A flood can be either good or bad. A mass of irrelevant text or binary posts is a bad flood with the intention of making a group difficult to read. In a binary group, a mass of relevant binary posts can be called a flood, but is often appreciated.
