In White Wolf's Vampire: The Requiem game, the Unaligned within the Requiem hold no affiliation to a Covenant (i.e. Circle of the Crones, Carthian Movement). Instead they allow themselves to move around freely within vampire society. However, by being unaligned they lose the benefits that come with being part of a covenant, such as protection, special rituals and support. The life of an unaligned vampire teeters on the more dangerous side and can often lead to a quicker final death. In other roleplaying games, it refers to someone who does not fit within the game's alignment system, for example, in NetHack, Moloch is unaligned.
