(Japan > Ehime Prefecture > Uma District) Uma (宇摩郡 Uma-gun?) was a district located in Ehime Prefecture. Due to the mergers, the district dissolved on on April 1, 2004. Before the mergers as of 2003, the district had an estimated population of 19,040 with the total area of 165.50 km².(the total calculations of the former town of Doi and the village of Shingū)

歴史

  • 1878, due to the land reforms, the district created 24 villages.(24 villages)
  • July 1, 1894, the village of Mazaki(満崎村) brakes up into the village of Tenma(天満村) and Kaburasaki(蕪崎村).(25 villages)
  • November 21, 1898, the village of Mishima(三島村) gained town status to become the town of Mishima(三島町).(1 town, 24 villages)
  • December 21, 1898, the village of Kawanoe(川之江村) gained town status to become the town of Kawanoe(川之江町).(2 towns, 23 villages)
  • January 1, 1913, the village of Kamibun(上分村) gained town status to become the town of Kamibun(上分町).(3 towns, 22 villages)
  • February 11, 1940, the villages of Tsune(津根村) and Noda(野田村) merged to become the village of Nagatsu(長津村).(3 towns, 21 villages)

  • April 1, 2003, the village of Besshiyama(別子山村) merged into the city of Niihama(新居浜市).(1 town, 1 village)
  • April 1, 2004, the town of Doi and the village of Shingū merged with the cities of Kawanoe and Iyomishima to form the city of Shikokuchūō(四国中央市). Uma District dissolved as a result.
