"U" is a song by Pearl Jam. It first appeared as a B-side on the "Wishlist" single. It was originally recorded during the sessions for Pearl Jam's fifth album, Yield. In All Music Guide's review of the "Wishlist" single, it was stated that "U" "achieves power pop magnificence with an insanely catchy melody and a late-blooming, funky instrumental breakdown."[1] The song was also included on the B-sides and rarities compilation, Lost Dogs. However, this version is different from the b-side. The original version featured Jack Irons on drums while this version features Matt Cameron. Also, the vocals have been re-recorded. According to Eddie Vedder in the liner notes for Lost Dogs, the song was written in a car on a twelve minute drive.
