The Japanese Type 2 Ho-I Infantry Support Tank was a further development of a series of new tank designs started with the Type 1 Chi-He during World War II. All tanks of this series where based off of the Type 97 Chi-Ha chassis. The Type 2 Ho-I was built as a self-propelled gun on the Type 1 Chi-He medium tank chassis (itself being a modified Type 97 Chi-Ha chassis). It was designed for a close fire support role and was issued to the gun tank companies of the Japanese Army's tank regiments but only thirty were ever built. The short barreled 75 mm Type 99 Gun was mounted in a fully rotating two man turret. The armaments aboard of Type 2 Ho-I was 1 x Type 99 Cannon of 75mm and 1 x Type 97 MG of 7.7mm.
