Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is an upcoming first-person shooter, developed by Spark Unlimited for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC involving an alternate reality in which Winston Churchill dies in 1931, eight years before the start of World War II. Without Churchill's strong leadership, Europe falls to German and Axis forces and is used as a buffer to successfully capture Washington, D.C. in the United States. The Nazis then install a puppet president with the name Stevenson. Not much more is known about this game at this time. Release is set for early 2008.
Plot
Turning Point: Fall of Liberty takes place in an alternate timeline, in which Winston Churchill is hit by a cab in New York City in 1931 and dies in the incident.[1] In the real world, he survived and went on to rally the British people to fight against the German threat; however, in this alternate timeline, Britain was without a strong leader and was invaded by the Third Reich. Presumably, the rest of Europe, Iceland and Greenland also fell to the Axis Powers soon afterwards. Victorious, the Axis launches an attack on the American Eastern Seaboard in 1953. The opening scene in the game places the player right in the heat of a surprise attack on New York City.[2] The game includes more advanced versions of Axis weapons, as well as new ones that were being researched and developed late during World War II, but never made it to production in because of the Nazis' ultimate demise. Superheavy tanks such as the Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus and Landkreuzer P. 1000 Ratte will appear, according to what the developers have said in their interview videos. In reality, these vehicles never made it into production. One departure from more traditional first-person shooters is that the player is not a soldier; in fact the main character has no connection to the military. The player is an average construction worker and instead of trying to win the war single-handedly, like in some other war-based FPS games, the main objective is simply to survive total war.[3] Little has leaked, but it is confirmed that you will play and fight in both Washington and New York. Stages includes The White house and New York city.
