Traveler
Gender: male
Home planet: Tau Alpha C
Portrayed by: Eric Menyuk

In the fictional Star Trek universe, The Traveler is a highly advanced humanoid from Tau Alpha C. The Traveler is exceptionally skilled mentally and is able to make a bridge between space and time through which he and presumably those of his kind travel throughout the galaxy. He was played by Eric Menyuk in all three Star Trek: The Next Generation appearances. The use of this power takes a large toll on The Traveler though and weakens him considerably as seen in the episode "Where No One Has Gone Before". In this episode The Traveler is able to take the Enterprise to Galaxy M-33 and ultimately to the edges of the known universe. In this episode, The Traveler is also shown to be capable of sensing this capacity in others as he did with Wesley Crusher. The next appearance of The Traveler came in the episode "Remember Me", where he was instrumental in rescuing Beverly Crusher from a rapidly collapsing universe brought about by a static warp bubble. The Traveler appeared one last time in the episode "Journey's End", where he helped Wesley Crusher explore his blossoming cosmic abilities. It is this episode that also clearly shows The Traveler has mastery over time as Wesley stops time, and yet The Traveler is unaffected.

Non-canon appearances

The Traveler reappeared in the Star Trek novel A Time to Be Born.
