Transatlanticism is an album by Death Cab for Cutie. It is their fourth LP and eighth record release. The album peaked at number 97 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart, [1] and has sold more than 225,000 copies. It is available on CD, SACD and vinyl. The album is Jason McGerr's first as the band's drummer. [2] Tracks from Transatlanticism have been featured in several motion pictures and television shows, most notably FOX's The O.C. and HBO's Six Feet Under (“Transatlanticism”).
A poster of the album cover hangs in the bedroom of The O.C. character, Seth Cohen. A copy of the album is part of his "starter pack" during the first Chrismukkah episode.
The song "Transatlanticism" was played during the credits of Fourstar Clothing's skateboard video "Super Champion Funzone".
The lyrics to "Death of an Interior Decorator" appear to be inspired by the Woody Allen movie, Interiors. Ben Gibbard claimed it was about his favorite movie.
