Thomas W. Sutherland (c. 1817–) was an early settler and attorney in San Diego, California. Thomas W. Sutherland was born c. 1817 in Pennsylvania and moved to San Diego sometime before 1850. Sutherland and his wife Joanna (born c. 1822 in Pennsylvania) had one son in 1850. From March 1850 to 1850 Sutherland was the last Acting Alcalde (Mayor) of San Diego. Sutherland was the city district attorney under the U. S. Government, and District Attorney in 1851. He moved to San Francisco in 1852.
