The Shak is an Australian children's television program on the Nine Network and its affiliates. It features four hosts in the studio who present links to filmed stories on various subjects. Each host has a nickname which relates to their area of 'expertise' and the type of stories that they present. Viewers send questions and suggestions to the presenters via the shows website, and in the show these are referred to as e-mails and sms messages. These may involve a challenge or task, or a question which the presenter will answer by visiting a place related to the question.
Other Information
The series is filmed, for the main part, at a studio resembling a large shed or shack, decorated with all manner of objects. The presenters arrive via a prop of a wave, and exit through a door on the other side of the shack. They are known as 'Shaksters', as are the viewers. Other filming is done at various locations, usually near the Gold Coast where the shack is set. In 2006, the filming was done at Seaworld and WhiteWater World, but since early 2007, filming has been done at WhiteWater World theme park. This was explained via an explosion made by Curio, which resulted in the Shaksters moving. Starting in early 2007, the show has been shown in Canada. Also, in September, 2007, the show changed its opening sequence, switching from animation, to a mix of animation and live action. there are 4 presenters each one speacialises in something. Curio likes science, space etc Eco likes trees, the enviromnent, animal etc Nitro likes surfing sport etc Picasso likes art, fashion, magazines, etc.
