The Radclyffe School is a secondary modern school for 11 - 16 year olds, located in Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. The school was originally called Chadderton Grammar school but was renamed Mid Chadderton Comprehensive after grammar schools were abolished in 1975. Early in 1976, the school pupils voted on a change of name, as the name Mid Chadderton was disliked by the then serving headmistress, Miss Myatt. The name "Radclyffe" was taken from a local land owning family in the 19th century and, at one time, had owned the land that the schools stood upon. Year group names are ILFRACOMBE MARSHFIELD UNIVERSAL BUCKINGHAM STAPLEFORD Education is split between two main sites the Broadway building which houses younger pupils years 7, 8 and 9. The Hunt Lane building houses older pupils years 10 and 11. The school has a purpose built athletic centre next to the upper school Hunt Lane building. The Radclyffe Upper School at Hunt Lane is currently undergoing a structural change and a new school will be built on the site, which is to accommodate both the Upper School students and the Lower School Broadway students. Work has started with the addition of an indoor running track connecting to the Hunt Lane Sports Hall. It will be finished in March 2008. [1] They also have a very successful young enterprise scheme which was established on the 2005-2006 academic year. The Radclyffe School won the first ever Fast & Furious Young Entrepreneurs Competition. The team consisted of Moshin-Al-Abdullah, Jake De'Maine, Callum Macrae and Hannah Woodcock.
