- Both the One Ring, and the one God Eru aka Ilúvatar, were referred to as “The One” in J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, and related works. - A strange character named Zathras who appeared on the mysteriously vanished space station Babylon 4 refers to “The One” as being his leader on the 1990s science fiction TV series Babylon 5. The end of that episode revealed that One to be an older, time-traveling version of B5 Commander Jeffrey Sinclair. A subsequent episode expounded on this, and revealed that there were three with that title: The One Who Was (Sinclair), the One Who Is, and The One Who Will Be.
