The Candy Band is a punk rock musical group for children. Its members are four stay-at-home moms from Detroit. The band was formed in 2003 by Detroit music veteran Paula Messner, formerly of the Motor Dolls and the Vertical Pillows. The band plays hard rocking versions of nursery rhymes, movie themes and other children's favorites. Their first album, Candy Band, was released in 2003 (see 2003 in music). It was followed by More Candy in 2004 and Lollipunk in 2005. The band plays local shows at schools, bars, festivals, and libraries. Candy Band has appeared on the Today Show, the CBS Morning Show, and Washington, DC's Pancake Mountain. In 2005 they appeared on the "Kidzapalloza" stage at Chicago's Lollapalooza festival.
