Tatsurō Yamashita (山下達郎 Yamashita Tatsurou?) (February 4, 1953-) is a Japanese musician, and producer. In 2003, HMV listed Tatsuro as the worlds 74th most influential musician [1], and at No.6 in their list of Japan's top 100 musicians, for his influence on the music industry [2]. He was also listed at No.5 in their list of the worlds top 50 greatest singers [3], and at No.1 in their list of Japan's top 30 singers [4]. His most well-known song is "Christmas Eve". It first appeared on his album Melodies in 1983, and was later released as a single In 1986, when it became the standard Japanese Christmas song. He is also the husband and producer of Mariya Takeuchi.
