Tantra Online is an MMORPG developed by HanbitSoft, the Korean distributor of StarCraft. It is largely based on Hindu mythology, with some influence from Buddhist . This is apparent through many aspects of the game's universe, from the names of the principal deities involved in the back story (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva; the Hindu trinity) to the magic system (utilizing mantras, lit. "words of power" in Sanskrit) to the various playable classes (Devas, Rakshasas, Asuras, Garuda, etc., all demonic, angelic or otherwise celestial beings in Hindu and Buddhist traditions). Like other MMORPGs, you have to create a character by choosing one of the 8 tribes in tantra, and kill monsters to attain higher level. Leveling can be done either by solo or you can create/join a party. Once in a party, the experience and money drops of each monster is divided to each party member.

The Eight Tribes
Each player chooses a tribe to belong to when starting new account. This is done before creating the actual character. The eight tribes are as follows. 1. Yaksa (Fighter)
2. Gandharva (Akira)
3. Deva (Mago)
4. Garuda (Maga)
5. Asura (Asesino)
6. Rakshasa (Amazona)
7. Naga (Barbaro)
8. Kimnara (Valquiria)
Eight Second Jobs
1. Vydia - Yaksa/Gandharva. The Buffer. Most of his/her skills are for support (e.g. increase max hp, increase attack rate, increase magic resistance, increase defense, heal, etc.). The basic function of this job is to keep members in the party healthy and well. This job is common and often important in areas with high monster levels and is essential in boss hunting. These characters often have low attack power but are hard to kill because they have healing and full support skills. They use battle weapon and shield. The most common ones are full support(fs) Vidyas who only put their skill points into support. Once a character dies, Vidyas can use their resurrection skill to revive a dead comrade. Another option is to make a battle support which utilizes the same build as the Nakayuda.
2. Nakayuda - yaksa/gandharva. Battle-type yaksa/gandharva, and wears a battle weapon. Its build up is heart-muscle, or sometimes, others use heart-nerve. They bear high damages and stuns (once stunned, one can't move or use skill until the effect is gone at about 8 seconds, depending on the level of stun). They can use their Chamuse to weaken their opponents and make them cause more damage. Also, they can use Saata to temporarly disrupt the HP/TP recovery of a boss or monster. 3. Samabat - deva/garuda. The Summoner. While they have less damage than the Abikara, this class can summon two powerful Lions and Hell's GateKeeper Dadati to attack their enemies. They have the ability to create a shield to protect them from enemies. Their ability to increase the tapas recovery rate is also very useful. Essential in parties so as to conserve on TP.
4. Abikara - deva/garuda. The Nuker. They deal high damages, so-called "nukes" but suffer due to lower hp compared to other tribes. Abikara's mastery is fire, ice and lightning which deals great damage upon its opponent. One of the most feared classes in tantra. With its firepower Abikara can deal a great damage to any class. Useful in repel parties and killing mobs.
5. Karya - asura/raksasha. The Hunter. This is the class that wields the bow, and uses skills that deal damage from afar. Their skills are honed to hit the vital points of their enemies and try to cripple them before they even get close. They summon Wolves (Kudu) to aid them and use skills that immobilize their enemies. They also have a skill to drain their opponents tapas.
6.Druka - asura/raksasha. The Assassin. This class possesses the highest damage dealing capability. They usually do 1 hit kills, or high powered 2 hit combos that kill enemies before they can even see them coming. They are the masters of stealth, agility and of course, firepower. They either blind their opponents or turn invisible to gain the advantage.The only setback is they somewhat have lower HP than other melee chars. In fact, Drukas have the record for the highest damage output in tantra, dealing at least 26,000 damage to a monster.
7. Satya - naga/kimnara. They often have low damage as their best build up is pure heart. Their main duty is to "tank" all monsters. When they are in a party, monsters (except a boss) prefers to hit nagas. They have many skills to increase their defense and can also absorb some of the damage their partymates take. Satya has high hp and defense because of their chakra build and skills.
8. Banar - naga/kimnara. Battle Type of a naga and kimnara clan. They possess physical power and also have higher vitality. They can use their stun lock that is very difficult to avoid. It also has this special skill which dashes to its target thus attacking in a very surprising manner. However in the absence of a Vidya and Samabat, they will be forced to spend a lot on potions since they have a few or no skills to boost their HP and TP recovery rate. They can either wield a spear, an axe, or a blade which can be single or double-handed.
The Four Chakras
When you level up, you gain extra "chakra points" which you have to distribute to any of the 4 chakras (heart, nerve, muscle, and mental) to determine your characters build.
Chakra of Heart This is basically HP or Vitality in other online games. Adding more Heart chakra increases your life points which will make you die less. Survivability is actually a must in Tantra as this game is centered on PvP. All tribes need this to some extent.
Chakra of Mental Basically the Intelligence in other online games. This Chakra actually has varying effects on different tribes. Deva/Garuda increase their damage if you invest in this chakra, while other tribes get only resistances if they add Mental chakra. In short, only the D/G tribe benefit from this.
Chakra of Nerve Dexterity for short. It determines your evasion, adds more defense, and also increases your chance to hit others. For the Karya class, as well as D/G's, this actually increases their damages.
Chakra of Muscle Strength. Increases one's defense and damage for melee tribes.
God System
When a character reaches level 30, he/she can choose a god (Vishnu, Brahma, or Shiva) to serve. A character whose level ranges from 30 to 59 can go to a certain map named Anaka Kruma while a character who is level 60 and above can go to Kruma. On these maps, one can kill people serving other gods in order to attain "Master Points" which are needed to have the special skills called "God Skills".
Ashrams and Unions
When a character chooses a god, he/she has the option to create or join an ashram serving the same god. You will need 300,000 rupiahs to create an ashram and 3 million rupiahs to create an Ashram Logo. Otherwise you may spend 500 taneys to create a premium logo which is better than normal ones. The Maharaja of an ashram can also unite with other ashrams worshipping the same god to form a union.
Tantra Areas
1. Mandara - The basic area and leveling spot for newbies.

2.2 Shambala Dungeon 2-home of Giant Spider (Meghamalin)
3. Jina - This is where upgrade stones are upgraded to attain higher-level upgrade stones. You can enter Jina once you attain lvl 40
4. Pamir Plains - It has the gate to Emperor's Tomb. This is also the only place where players can summon karya monsters or bosses.
5. Exile - This area is where players can craft high level items such as bracelets. Medium or lower level players often from partys to fight monsters in this area.
6. Emperor's Tomb - The resting place of 2 emperors and their sisters. The dark tomb is for players level 60 higher and only because of the strong fiends. Players note valuable rewards as a benefit of fighting in this area.
7. Biryu - The newest map. This place is actually for high level characters that are well equipped. Strong monsters roam this area.
8. Anaka Kruma - This official PvP area for players level 30 - 59. Players of different gods may challenge each other in this map. Entrance is located at mandara portal.
9. Kruma - This is the official pvp area for players level 60+. Entrance is mandara portal. player will be wrap to the high level kruma once he/she is level 60.
10. Chaturanga - high-pranas (experience), most of monster's drops here are upgrade stone. The gate to this map is on each God's Castles, which only opens if their god has 5 kalas installed in their castles. Other god can steal kalas for there are only 9 kalas in the whole Kruma. There is only one chaturanga in each server, thus, a certain player may meet other player not belonging to his god and kill each other. This map is like a chessboard. It has 25 rooms and 4 entrances. Three of the four entrance gates belong to each gods, the other (4th) is for those who were teleported from Rapphu's room. Each room has different kinds of monsters, with their respective bosses (knight, knight, elephant, turtle, etc.) which drops a chess piece. When all of the chess pieces are collected, they can be crafted to make a Rappu Key, the key to the middle room where a Chaturanga Boss lies (Rapphu). It has 2 forms and once killed, it drops one piece "crystal", needed in making the precious crystal weapon. Time allotment to kill Rappu is only one hour. When Rapphu is not killed, the players in his room will be teleported to the 4th entrance.
11. Mudha Dungeon - This is the newest dungeon in Tantra. Cali,the goddess of evil, is the boss monster of the dungeon. In the Mudha Dungeon, there are Sachi Aguas that you have to find in the different rooms in the dungeon. These teleport you to the next rooms in the dungeon and after using 4 Sachi Aguas, you have to find the last Sachi Agua (Sachi Agua 5) which spawns randomly and disappears after use.[1]
