Taiji Sawada (沢田 泰司 Sawada Taiji?, born on July 12, 1966) is a Japanese musician and songwriter. Throughout his professional career he is usually referred to by his given name only. He is primarily known for his work with the popular heavy metal band X Japan, with whom he played bass for their first three albums. He left the band and joined another famous Japanese heavy metal band, Loudness in 1992, working with the band until 1994. Taiji formed Cloud Nine in 1999 but left soon after in April, 2001. Taiji is currently working on his solo career and he re-joined Cloud Nine in 2007. He is well known for being a slap bassist and his amazing bass tapping skills.[1]

Biography

Taiji first joined X in 1985 but only played in it for awhile before being replaced by Hikaru. Later in 1986, Taiji joined back to X to play the bass for until as long as January 7, 1992. After leaving X, Taiji joined to work with Loudness for three years. After leaving Loudness in 1994, Taiji joined D.T.R. in 1996. In 1995 Taiji also released one single and one full length album with a band called Kings with members from 44 Magnum and Seikima II. Taiji kept a low profile up until spring of 1999 when he formed the band Cloud Nine. He was in the band until he left in April, 2001. In 2004, Taiji's work could be heard in the self-titled Otokaze album. He also re-joined Cloud Nine in 2007.
