"Superstar" is the somewhat of a title song from the famous 1971 rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. It has a compelling melody married to a catchy rhythm, lending the song its efficacy. It is sung by Judas Iscariot, and is of the form in which Judas questions why Jesus chose to arrive in the manner that he did and if what happened to him was really indeed part of a divine plan or not. It is thus somewhat accusatory in nature and not therein the anthem that some upon only casual listening take it to be. Nevertheless, along with "I Don't Know How to Love Him" it is the most well-known of this opera, musical, film, and other genre manifestations' song. This "Superstar" is not to be confused with many other songs named "Superstar".
