Sulthan Bathery (formerly called Ganapativatom) is a small town in Wayanad district of Kerala, India. It derives its present name from Tipu Sultan of Mysore who captured the Jain temple here and used it as his battery here in the 18th century, hence the name Sultan's Battery. Later, came to be known as Sulthan Bathery, its malayalam version of the name.
The town is 24 kilometers from the district headquarters Kalpetta.It lies on the Kozhikode -Mysore National Highway (NH 212).98 km from Kozhikode town. It is also 115 kilometers from Mysore and about 100 kilometers from Ooty(Udagamandalam). The people primarily depend on agriculture for living. Local tribes, called adivasis also contribute a major part of the population. Sultan Bathery is nearly 1000 metres above the sea level. One could find beautiful folded hills across the horizon. Places of Worship
- Ganapati Temple: The town itself had the name Ganapativattom because of this temple.Located in the heart of the city.
- Jain Temple: This Temple,believed to have been built in the 13th century. This served as a Hindu shrine, an important centre for commercial activity and eventually as a battery (ammunition store) for Tipu Sulthan's marching armies and hence the town got its name "Sulthan's Battery".
- Assumption Church: Is one of the major Christian churches located in the heart of the city.
- Mariyamman Temple: This is the most important temple for the local tribes.

- Ambukuthi mala: 12 km from Sulthan Bathery, three caves are located at a height of 1000 m on Ambukuthi mala near Ambalavayal. From Edakkal you have to do 1 km trekking to reach Edakkal Caves. One can see the new stone age pictorial writings on the walls of these natural caves.
