Substance is a 1988 Joy Division singles compilation released by Factory Records. It is considered by many to be a companion to New Order's Substance. The album features Wim Crouwel's New Alphabet type. However, the word on the cover reads "Substamce" rather than the intended "Substance." Substance reached #7 in the UK upon its release. It also marked Joy Division's one U.S. chart appearance, reaching #146.
