Gameplay
The game features six fictional movies:
- Aftershock (a disaster movie in the vein of Dante's Peak and Volcano. You double for a fire chief, a troublemaking drifter, a teenager trying to rescue his grandmother, and a volcanologist. This movie is set in the present-day British Columbia, Canada.) The director's name is Richard Langston and first aide is Kate Winthrop.
- Whoopin and a Hollerin' II (a comedy/action film in the vein of Dukes of Hazzard. The sequel to the eponymous movie from the previous game. note in the Night Avenger director intro the director said that it grossed over $200,000,000. This movie is set in the present-day in Tennessee, USA.) Director is Andy Baxter and his boys.
- Strike Force Omega (an action movie directed and starred by a former stuntman detailing the exploits of the titular force versus mercenaries in a desert military base. Note the films poster says film released date is Summer 07. This movie is set in Kyrgyzstan in the mid-1980s) Karl Steele is director and main star.
- Overdrive (a 70s-esque cop thriller in the vein of Starsky & Hutch set in present day San Francisco. Note the film is rated R) Robert Rodino is director.
- Never Kill Me Again (a James Bond style action movie set in the backdrop of snowy mountains. This is a parody of Die another day and is set in the present-day Beijing, China. It is the sequel of Live Twice For Tomorrow which was featured in the first game. Note that this film is Number 14 in the spy series.) Jean Benoir directs.
- Night Avenger (An obvious parody of "Batman" which is set in the present-day in a fictional city called "Darkdom", but it's filmed in Chicago, ILL, USA.) Howard Reitman is director. Assistants are Jack and Sara.
Each movie has six scenes, the goal being to complete objectives set out by the director in each scene. The way you complete tasks are set out a little differently than the first installment. The basic player will be able to drive through all the levels completing all of the director's stunts to progress onto further levels. However more advanced players will try to link or "string" stunts together to increase his/her stunt multiplier. To achieve a high score the player must string the director stunts with other maneuvers as well like getting close to objects, drifting around corners or being airborne for example. You're scored for your performance on each stunt sequence, and then assigned a star rating based on that score. Players can earn up to 5 stars if they manage to 'string' an entire scene. Achieving stars also adds this to your 'rank', players use this to see how far they are through the game. The top rank is 'The Greatest' and means the player is the best stuntman of all time. New to the Stuntman series is the "strike" system which is more lenient than the scoring system in the original stuntman. A certain number of strikes means the director automatically calls a reshoot of the entire scene. 'Easy Mode' can be activated to allow for more strikes and regardless of getting all strikes, players can carry on the scene. Also, by completing certain sequences, the player will be nominated for certain scene in the Taurus World Stunt Awards.
Multiplayer Mode
Outside the career mode there's a multiplayer mode, which includes two different race types. Backlot battle focuses on performing as many stunts as possible within a set number of laps, while the backlot race mode is a more straightforward race where you can earn bursts of nitro by doing stunts.
