Steve Bower was born in 1973, educated at Calday Grange Grammar School, and started his mainstream career in Regional radio in the 1990s at Piccadilly Radio in Manchester, where he was Head of Football. In September 1998, at the launch of MUTV, Steve became the commentator for the channel. Although at this time it was largely recorded Reserve matches he lent his voice to. In the Autumn of 2000, he and long time co-commentator from his days at Piccadilly, 1968 European Cup winner, Paddy Crerand were given their own show by MUTV entitled Crerand and Bower...in Extra Time. The show has become a jewel in the crown for the channel and is, by far, MUTV's most viewed talk show. Bower conducted the infamous Roy Keane interview in the MUTV show Roy Keane Plays The Pundit which was never broadcast due to Keane's reported stinging attack on his fellow Manchester United players. Added to this, Steve has undertaken freelance work with talkSPORT in the past, where he worked on two European Football Championships. In May 2007, Steve left MUTV to join Setanta as a commentator on their expansive football coverage for the 2007/08 season, with his first match being a Football Conference North playoff between Farsley Celtic and Hinckley United working alongside Paul Parker. Bower has also seen his duties cover the 2007 Peace Cup pre-season tournament, hosted in South Korea, featuring games involving Bolton Wanderers and Reading F.C. and Tottenham Hotspur's pre-season tour of South Africa.
