Sterling Commerce is a company that provides business process integration and multi-channel selling and fulfillment solutions to organizations in various industries, including communications, financial services, logistics, the U.S. government, manufacturing, and retail. Formerly a subsidiary of Sterling Software, Sterling Commerce became a separate company in 1996. Headquartered in the American city of Columbus, Ohio, Sterling Commerce has offices in 19 countries. SBC Communications Inc. purchased Sterling Commerce in 2000.[1] With the merger of AT&T Corp. and SBC Communications Inc. in November 2005, Sterling Commerce became an AT&T company.

Recent acquisitions

Since 2005, Sterling Commerce has moved to extend its range of selling and fulillment solutions through a series of acquisitions:

  • In 2005, Sterling Commerce acquired Yantra Corporation, a provider of distributed order management and supply chain fulfillment solutions.[2]
  • In 2006, Sterling Commerce acquired Nistevo, a leading provider of on-demand transportation management solutions.[3]
  • In early 2007, Sterling Commerce acquired Comergent Technologies Inc., a Redwood City, California developer of e-business software, including an application suite that simplifies and improves selling and distributed order management processes for complex products.[4]
