Steria [1] is a leading European provider of IT-driven business services (information technology, consulting, outsourcing and professional services), focused on key vertical market sectors: public services; finance; telecommunications; utilities and transport. The company provides consulting services for its clients' core business processes, and also develops and operates their information systems. Steria acquired the UK-based company Xansa in October 2007. The new group has over 18,000 employees working in 16 countries. Steria’s pro forma revenue as of 31 dec 2006 is 1.8billion euros. Headquartered in Paris, Steria is listed on the Euronext Paris Eurolist. Steria Limited [2] UK headquarters is in Hemel Hempstead near Buncefield Oil Depot and was affected by a major explosion in 2005, but continued to operate. Steria's sales are distributed geographically across Europe: France (41.1%), United Kingdom (22.4%), Germany (15.8%) and the remainder of Europe (20.7%).

1969 - Creation of Steria by Jean Carteron; 1969 – 1986: Major multi-sector contracts in systems integration 1973 - Signature of the automation contract with Agence France Presse; 1978 - Start of Steria’s internationalisation: creation of a subsidiary in Switzerland; 1981 - Prime contractorship of the Télétel 3V project which marked the launch of the Minitel in France; 1986 – 1998: Development of managed services and internationalisation 1986 - Signature of the largest export contract ever won by a French IT services company: the computer automation of the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia; 1987 - Development of major projects including the driverless train project for Paris's RER A line; 1990 - Launch of the managed services business. Creation of subsidiaries and offices in Germany, Spain and Saudi Arabia; 1993 - Implementation of the Jakarta airport's information system (Indonesia); 1994 - Development of the Centrale des Règlements Interbancaires' (interbank payment office) management system; 1988 – 2004: Rise of a European group as an end-to-end IT services provider 1998 - François Enaud is appointed Group Chairman and CEO and Gérard Guyodo Joint CEO; 1999 - Creation of a subsidiary with Atos Origin in interbanking; Development of business in Asia, opening a subsidiary in Singapore; Listing on the Second Marché of the Paris Stock Exchange; 2000 - Steria becomes one of the top five managed services providers in France. Steria achieves 7.1% profitability. 2007 - UK staff now approaching 1800 people after rapid growth, particularly in the National and Central Government division. Wins a project to deliver an ID card system for foreign nationals for the Belgian government. Acquired IT outsourcing and technology company Xansa Plc 17 October. Steria UK is a supplier of IT services to the public sector, including Central and Local Government, Defence, Police, Education, National Health Service, Agencies and Authorities.
