Stephen O'Malley (sometimes referred to as SOMA [1]) is a musician, predominantly a guitarist, from Seattle, Washington who has started and participated in numerous drone doom, death/doom, and experimental bands. Currently, he is in the bands Ginnungagap, KTL, Lotus Eaters, and Sunn O))). He is also a graphic designer, having produced album covers and posters for bands such as Earth, Emperor, Zyklon, Boris and Probot, just to name a few. He also does silkscreen poster designs on occasions for bands like The Melvins (a portfolio of his work is available at his website). He also published a black metal fanzine called "Descent" in the mid-nineties and is involved with the Experimental/Neofolk/Black Metal label "The Ajna Offensive". Although he is originally from Seattle, O'Malley's website clearly states that he lives in Paris, France.
