Stanton-under-Bardon is a village and civil parish in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 633.[1] Three families are travellers that reside in caravans, and a further family of travellers live in a house (they have a collection of small dogs that have developed a somewhat bad reputation in the area as they are allowed to roam free) and occasionally invite other travellers for parties like on St. Patrick's day. The other houses are generally constructed out of red brick, with many on Main Street having long, thin gardens. The village is situated near junction 22 of the M1 motorway, close to Markfield, which Stanton is often classed as part of, despite the distance between the two villages, which share a local newspaper, the Markfield and Stanton Under Bardon Herald. The village has a thatched pub, Post Office, two churches and a primary school. Nearby is Bardon quarry, lots of wildlife, billabarra reserve and a spring.
