St. Paul's School for Girls is an independent college-preparatory school in Brooklandville, Maryland founded in 1959 to replace an older girls' school which had been closed. Its all-boys brother school St. Paul's School is located on an adjacent campus. The Upper Schools share some foreign language and certain elective classes.

It is situated on a rural campus in the Green Spring Valley, about ten miles north of the city of Baltimore, with the approximate coordinates 39°25′13″N 76°40′37″W / 39.4202, -76.677.

History

The school was founded in 1959, on a site adjacent to St. Paul's School. Its predecessor, St. Paul's Girls' School, which had been founded in 1799 as St. Paul's Orphanage, had been closed earlier in the decade. It was approved as a SEVIS school in 2003.[1] It was designated a Green School in September 2007 by the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education.[2]

Sport

The school was ranked number two in Maryland in lacrosse in 2006,[3] after being ranked third in 2005,[4] and second in 2004.[5]

The volleyball team finished #1 in the state in 2007. They won the A conference IAAM championship, which they had also won in 2005, against rival Spalding, 3-0.[6] One week later they won the Maryland/DC tournament. They were led with all conference Bailey Webster. Key Players: Bailey Griswold, Jillian Unitas, Rachel Kelley, Liz Vlk.
