Spectres is a rock album by Blue Öyster Cult released in November 1977. The album was certified gold in January 1978 and contained the album rock hits "Godzilla", "Death Valley Nights", and "I Love the Night". A remaster of this album was released on CD in early 2007, which included four previously unreleased outtakes from Spectres sessions as bonus tracks. The outtakes were recorded July–September 1977 in New York.

  • The song "Godzilla" was covered by the band Racer X on their album Superheroes, it was also remixed by Thunderpuss in 1998.
  • "Godzilla" also has been used in the hit PlayStation 2 game Guitar Hero.
  • The New York Yankees outfielder, Hideki Matsui, has used "Godzilla" as his plate appearance music.
  • The Newark Boys' Chorus, who provide ethereal backing vocals on "Golden Age of Leather" may, a year or so before, have provided a similar service for Van Morrison on his Hard Nose the Highway album. They performed ethereal fade-out vocals on a track called "Snow in San Anselmo."
