Spectre is a pressure group formed by British anti-war campaigner Reg Keys. Mr Keys aims to stand candidates in all United Kingdom House of Commons by-elections and the Next United Kingdom general election, although it is not currently registered as a political party with the Electoral Commission. Reg Keys stood against Prime Minister Tony Blair at the Sedgefield constituency at the United Kingdom general election, 2005. There are different theories over the origin of the name with the most likely being just as a 'spectre haunts Europe - the spectre of communism' from The Communist Manifesto, or the antagonist corporation of evil from the James Bond films, Spectre plans to haunt New Labour. The Spectre Party's aims and objectives include bringing the Government to account for misleading Parliament over Iraq, supporting wounded troops returning from Iraq, raising serving soldiers’ concerns over Iraq and highlight equipment and system failures. A full list of their aims and objectives can be found on the Spectre Party Website.
