The South American Jaguars was an international rugby union team consisting of South American players that played during the early 1980s against the South African Springboks. South Africa invited South America to tour there as a way of counteracting its sporting isolation which was due to the country's apartheid policies. The team was mainly made up of Argentinians but also included players from Uruguay and Chile. In all, eight matches were played of which seven were won by the Springboks and one was won by the Jaguars, who were on all occasions captained by Hugo Porta of Argentina. The Jaguars one victory came at Bloemfontein in 1982.
