Sonny Anderson da Silva Nilmar (born september 19, 1970 in Goiatuba) is a football (soccer) player from Brazil. He played as a forward for Olympique de Marseille, AS Monaco, FC Barcelona and Olympique Lyonnais where he became a "legend" of the club with which he never ceased to keep contacts and where he still works now that his football career is over. He is considered to be the origin of the "Brazilian Connection" at the Olympique Lyonnais. Sonny Anderson is known for wearing his socks above his knees, and has inspired Thierry Henry to do the same: Henry does this as a tribute to him. He now coaches the strikers at Olympique Lyonnais.
