Sky Saxon (real name Richard Marsh, born in Salt Lake City, Utah) is an American rock and roll singer. He was the singer of 1960s garage rock band The Seeds. Saxon began his career performing doo-wop influenced pop tunes in the early 60s under the name Little Richie Marsh. After changing his name to Sky Saxon, he began playing with the Electra-Fires and the Soul Rockers before finally starting the legendary psych group The Seeds in 1965. He spent at least some time in the 1990s in Seattle, Washington (USA), where he was known to occasionally do impromptu performances, jumping on stage with local bands for a freejam session. One such occasion was on Sunday, July 14th 1996, at the Ballard Firehouse. He requested that Eric Slyter (at the time, the drummer of local Seattle band Orange Tin Man, who was also appearing that night) jam with him one-on-one. A videotape was made by former Orange Tin Man vocalist Fish Johnson, and is currently in the possession of bassist Chad Redl, also formerly of Orange Tin Man.
Current Projects
Sky Sunlight Saxon is currently involved in a number of musical projects including his band King Arthur's Court. King Arthur's Court is described as a neo-tribal, shamanic, psychedelic musical group that plays with an improvisational style in the same spirit as Ya Ho Wa 13, regarded as one of the best American psychedelic bands. Sky Sunlight Saxon formed King Arthur's Court along with other original Ya Ho Wa 13 member Djin Aquarian (guitars). Other band members include Steve Kozyk aka Scones (bass), Aaron Basler aka Aon Slane (keyboards), and Justino Polimeni (percussion). King Arthur's Court will be touring the US West Coast in March of 2008. Sky currently resides in Marin County California when he is not in the studio or on tour.
