Skilled Occupation List is a list of occupations which are currently acceptable for migration to Australia. Occupations are divided into separate categories such as professionals, managers, traders etc. and there are points allocated to each profession which could be used for migration assessment purposes. Depending on the demand of occupation in Australian Labor Market and the training level required for the occupation, the points can range from 40–60. A person selecting occupation from the list must have his(er) qualification assessed by an authorised agency before becoming eligible to use the occupation points. Australian immigration regularly updates the SOL to reflect changes in the Australian Labor Market and current demand for occupations in the country.
