Siren Song of the Counter Culture is the third album by the band Rise Against, released on August 10, 2004. It is the first one to be released on a major label. The album sold very well, due to the success of its single "Swing Life Away", which reached #12 on Billboard Modern Rock Tracks, making it one of the band's highest-ranking singles so far. Also faring well were the album's other two singles, "Give It All" (#33) and "Life Less Frightening" (#37). The album itself reached #1 on the Top Heatseekers chart and #136 on The Billboard 200 and Top Internet Albums.

Miscellaneous

  • Japanese and German retail editions contain the bonus track "Fix Me" (a Black Flag cover), while the Special Edition of the album comes with the track "Obstructed View".
  • "Paper Wings" is featured on the soundtrack for Burnout 3.
  • "Give It All" is featured on Rock Against Bush, Vol. 1 and on the soundtrack to Need For Speed: Underground 2, the famous video known as "Urban Ninja" which can be found on youtube.com and FlatOut 2 as well as the Xbox game WWE WrestleMania 21.
  • The name of the final track was inspired by a famous quote by Mark Twain in response to a newspaper article which stated that he had died.
  • During an Interview, Brandon Barnes remarked that "Rumours of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated" was the final song composed for this album, being written and recorded towards the end of the recording sessions.
