Silver Creek High School is a secondary school located in San Jose, California which is operated by the East Side Union High School District.

History
Code Red
On the morning of May 8, 2007 Silver Creek was locked down after police notified school administrators of possible armed suspects in the area. Three suspects crashed their getaway car two blocks from the school, fleeing from a nearby home. One of the three suspects was apprehended. Two remain at large. No students were injured.[2]
Transformer Explosion
On September 26, 2007 during 7th period the school's transformer exploded, knocking out power and canceling classes for two days. The cause remains unknown but believed that the transformers short circuited. [3] [4] [5] [[Video[1]]]
Accomplishments
The Silver Creek Thunderously Hip Japanese Program took home a national win in the 2007 Japan Bowl held in Washington, D.C. The level 3 team placed first in a competition with roughly 40 different opponents.[6] Students enrolled in Calculus B.C. have a 100% passing rate for the AP College Board test. Silver Creek was shown on the television show MTV "Made" featuring a girl student trying to be made into a football player.[7]
Demographics
As of 2006-2007, the school enrolls 2,379 students.[1] The student demographic in 2007 is 56% Asian (Pacific Islander included), 31% Hispanic, 9% White, and 5% African American. In 1969 the student demographic was 68% White, 29% Black, 1.5% Hispanic, 0.5% Asian, and 0.5% Native American.
