She is an Olympic gold medalist in the 4 x 100 meter relay race from 2004 Olympic Games. At the 2005 World Championships in Athletics she won (together with Daniele Browning, Aleen Bailey and Veronica Campbell) a gold medal. Sherone Simpson (coached by Stephen Francis) outlasted Olympic champion Veronica Campbell to register a stunning victory in the women's 200 metres final at the 2006 XVIII Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. The Manchester High graduate, now attending University of Technology in Jamaica, better known as a 100m sprinter, clocked 22.59 to win her first major individual gold.
