Shaun Casey was a model active from the mid-1970s through the mid-1980s. By 1987 she had given up modeling for all but a few favorite clients. [1] She is most known for her work with photographer Victor Skrebneski as spokesmodel for the cosmetics company Estée Lauder Inc. from 1981 to 1985. Skrebneski remarked that the image of the women was so strongly associated with the brand that many women believed that the photographs were of Estée Lauder herself. [2] The first Lauder advertisement in which she appeared is known as "Great American Desert."[3] Skrebneski explained that the Lauder models, like Casey, were selected for their clean look of "good breeding." [4]
In the late 1970s Casey was associated with famous hairstylist, John Sahag, who created a stir by cutting her hair extremely short and bleaching it white for a Helmut Newton cover of French Vogue.[5] Casey also had a small role in the 1977 Woody Allen romantic comedy Annie Hall. Casey described modeling as "a grind, just like any other job" and said of her pictures, "gosh, I wish I looked like that every day." [6] No longer working as a model, she lives in California with her husband & two daughters.
