Shankar Mahadevan is an Indian singer and music composer. He is an engineering graduate trained in Carnatic and Hindustani classical music. He's a popular singer in Kollywood industry in South India Shankar Mahadevan hails from the Tamil Iyer community. In Bollywood he is more popularly known as part of the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio of music directors. He has also served as a celebrity judge in the popular reality television show, Fame Gurukul. Shankar often collaborates with a group of Swedish musicians, Mynta. He is also a part of the Indo-Jazz fusion music band Silk, comprising Louis Banks, Karl Peters and Sivamani.

Shankar Mahadevan has provided vocals for several pieces by the Shakti group, which features such maestros as A.R.Rahman, Zakir Hussain and John Mclaughlin.
