Serena Bishop was a fictional character in the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Lara Sacher. She first appeared in 2003 and remained in the show until her presumed drowning 2005, following a major plane crash caused by Robert Robinson (Adam Hunter). Her character was initially used to a luxury lifestyle, and when she entered Ramsay Street she was looking forward to living in a lavish new house with her parents, David (Kevin Harrington) and Serbian-Australian Liljana (Marcella Russo). However, her father's business fell through, leading her to live permanently with grandfather Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) and her cousin Sky (Stephanie McIntosh), and be forced to go to Erinsborough High instead of Eden Hills Grammar, a posh private school. Further displeasing her parents, she was ensnared by photographer Chris Cousins and briefly seduced Boyd Hoyland (Kyal Marsh), Sky's then boyfriend. Serena then had a relationship with Luka Dokic which had almost become physical by the time they discovered that Luka was in fact Liljana's son, who had been adopted out against her will. Perhaps most worrying of all for David and Lil, she started seeing the much older Connor (Patrick Harvey), and started working in his bikini shop Bounce, which she later bought into. When a joy flight arranged by Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) for the Lassiter's anniversary exploded, Serena was one of the fatalities. Connor tried in vain to save Serena from the rapidly flooding water that seeped into the plane, but could do nothing as Serena went under. Serena’s body was never recovered and her death remained officially unconfirmed. This resulted in recent speculation that actress Lara Sacher will eventually be reprising her role in Ramsay Street. However this has never been confirmed and, for the time being, remains pure speculation.
