Sedgwick Middle School is a school in the town of West Hartford, Connecticut. It is one of the West Hartford Public Schools. The school was named after William Thompson Sedgwick, a key figure in shaping public health in the United States.[1] The school was opened in 1931. Total enrollment in 2004-2005 was 1123.[2] The school mascot is the Wildcat. The present principal of Sedgwick is Dr. Benjamin Skaught. In May 2005, two students brought guns to the school; one was a BB gun, the other an unloaded handgun.[3] In March 2006, two students drew swastikas on the interior walls of the school.[4] Sedgwick was a Blue Ribbon School in 1999-2000.[5]
